Alyssa Doberstein, LMFT

Alyssa is a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist (LMFT) who specializes in working with couples and individuals. She earned her Master’s Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from the University of Wisconsin-Stout and a Sex Therapy Certificate from the California Institute of Integral Studies.

Alyssa is trained in Emotionally Focused Therapy for Couples and Gottman Method Couples Therapy, a systemic approach that helps couples repair/manage conflict and deepen intimacy. She works to help couples create renewed intimacy and emotional experiences with their partners while exploring and making meaning of their relational “dance.” She helps couples and individuals develop a deeper sense of self, have more fulfilling relationships, and tap into their inherent resiliency. 

Alyssa believes that finding a therapist that you connect with and feel understood by is an integral part of therapy. Alyssa specializes in working with relationship concerns, intimacy, infidelity, desire discrepancies, concerns related to sexual health, trauma, anxiety, and life transitions. The process of therapy can be a chance to rediscover yourself and your relationships. Alyssa tailors her therapeutic approach to her clients and works to provide a collaborative and authentic experience.

Alyssa is also trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), using it to help clients reprocess traumatic and distressing life experiences. When faced with distressing experiences, our minds and bodies begin to react differently to the world and people around us, often resulting in changes in mood and behavior. Her approach to therapy also focuses on using the mind-body connection to promote healing and increase quality of life.
